ValuED envisions an education system in Kosovo where every learner experiences inclusion, respect, and belonging, and where teachers act as key agents of democratic transformation. It aspires to create schools that model fairness, participation, and dialogue, enabling students from diverse cultural, linguistic, and social backgrounds to learn together and from one another.
The project’s long-term vision is a nationwide culture of values-based education—where policies, teacher education programs, and classroom practices are guided by shared European principles of human rights, democracy, and social justice. By fostering collaboration between higher education institutions, policymakers, and communities, ValuED seeks to build lasting capacity for an education system that not only transmits knowledge but also cultivates the attitudes, behaviors, and competences needed for responsible citizenship and peaceful coexistence in a diverse and interconnected world.
The mission of the ValuED project is to strengthen the foundation of Kosovo’s education system by embedding values-based, democratic, and inclusive principles in all aspects of teacher education and school practice. The project seeks to reform teacher education policy and professional development through evidence-based approaches that enhance teachers’ competencies to promote equality, non-discrimination, participation, and civic engagement.
By connecting universities, schools, ministries, and civil society, ValuED aims to establish a sustainable model of teacher training that bridges pre-service and in-service learning, ensuring that values such as respect, empathy, justice, and responsibility are not only taught but lived within classrooms and school communities. The mission extends beyond institutional change—it aspires to nurture educators who can cultivate responsible, reflective, and socially engaged citizens capable of contributing to a democratic and cohesive society.
