Through collaboration with 20 pilot schools, ValuED will introduce structured activities that strengthen school climate, encourage student voice, and promote participatory decision-making. Teachers and school leaders receive mentoring and on-site support to apply new pedagogical approaches, integrate values into classroom practice, and create learning environments where every student feels respected and included.
A central element of these interventions is the launch of student-led mini-projects, which empower learners to take active roles in shaping their school culture. These projects focus on themes such as diversity, cooperation, community engagement, environmental responsibility, and democratic participation—helping students experience citizenship not just as a subject, but as a lived experience.
In addition, the project develops a participatory school development planning model that guides schools in identifying their strengths, setting priorities, and collaboratively designing actions that enhance democratic culture and inclusion. This approach strengthens school leadership, fosters teamwork among teachers, and increases transparency and accountability.
To support long-term improvement, ValuED also creates a school self-evaluation framework for tracking progress in responsible citizenship competence, inclusion, and school climate. This tool helps schools reflect on their practices, make evidence-based decisions, and sustain the changes initiated through the project.
Together, these interventions ensure that schools become active labs of democracy and inclusion, where values are practiced daily, and where students grow into responsible, empathetic, and engaged citizens.
